Paying
What's the difference between paying through us and settling between yourselves?
Settle between yourselves: we introduce the buyer and the seller, and the buyer pays the seller directly, on Venmo, Cash App or however you agree. We never touch the money and take no cut.
Pay through us: the buyer's card is held, the seller transfers the tickets, and the money is taken only once the buyer has them. If the tickets don't come, the buyer gets their money back.
A listing or request can be open to either. You choose when you post it.
What fees do you charge?
Nothing when you settle between yourselves.
When you pay through us, our cut is $3 a ticket from the buyer and $3 a ticket from the seller. The buyer also pays the card cost, which is what the card network charges us: 2.9% of the total plus 30 cents. So on a $100 ticket the buyer pays $103 plus about $3.29 in card cost, and the seller is paid $97. The buyer sees their cut and the card cost before they tap Buy; the seller sees theirs on the listing form before choosing to be paid through us.
Both amounts are fixed on a trade when the card is held, so a later change never moves a trade already made.
Isn't settling between ourselves cheaper?
Yes, it's free. But a payment between you two is only as safe as the app you use. Whether it has any protection is up to that app, not us. If a buyer marks a Venmo payment as a purchase, Venmo keeps about 3% of it.
Paying through us costs more than that, and for it you get the thing we're here for. The money waits until the buyer has the tickets. If something goes wrong, we look at the emails from the ticket seller and the seller's proof of transfer, and decide. When the buyer is right, they get their money back.
When is my card held, and when is it charged?
When a listing fits your request, your card is held at once for the price, our cut and the card cost. It's held, not taken: your bank may show it as pending. It's taken when you tap I got them, or 6 hours after the seller shows the transfer (or 1 hour before doors open, if that's sooner) if you say nothing.
What if the tickets never come?
Tap I didn't get them before the trade confirms itself. Your card stays held while we ask you both for the emails from the ticket seller and look at the seller's upload. Then we either release the hold or pay the seller. If the seller missed their deadline to transfer, the hold is released and your request goes back to looking, in its old place.
What if the show is cancelled or postponed?
Cancelled: every trade not yet paid out is released or refunded in full. Postponed: trades not yet paid out are released, and trades already paid out stand.
Selling
What's face value, and why can't I list above it?
Face value is a ticket's original price from the first sale, plus the fees and tax on that sale. Selling at face value is the whole point of the site, so a listing must be at face value or less.
I bought my tickets on a resale site. Can I sell them here?
Yes, at face value or less. That may be less than you paid, and we know that stings. Every ticket that moves here at face value is money that doesn't go to scalpers and resale sites. The more of us who do it, the less power they have over the shows we all go to.
How fast do I have to transfer?
On a trade paid through us, you see the buyer's ticketing email and a deadline: 24 hours when doors open more than 2 days away, 4 hours inside 2 days, and 1 hour inside 12 hours. It's never later than 1 hour before doors open. Transfer in the ticket seller's own app, then upload a picture of the screen showing the transfer was accepted.
When do I get paid?
Your first 2 trades paid through us pay out 24 hours after the show starts. After 2 clean trades, you're paid when the trade confirms. The first time, Stripe, our payment provider, asks for your identity and bank details to set up your payout.
Why won't my listing go live while I'm waiting to be paid?
While you have fewer than 2 clean trades paid through us, there's a limit on how much can be waiting to be paid to you. Once trades pay out, your listings go live again.
Someone asked me for more than face value after we were matched. What do I do?
Don't pay it. Tap Report a problem on the trade and tell us. A seller who asks for more than face value after a match has their account closed.
What if I see a listing over face value?
Tap Report this listing under the request form on that listing and say what's wrong. A picture of what face value was helps. The seller isn't told who reported. We'll email you what we decide. A listing we remove for being over face value warns its seller first; a second within a year stops them listing for 90 days.
Why can't buyers see my listing?
Members reported it, so we're checking it. Buyers can't see it until we decide, and you can't remove it meanwhile. Write to support@sellyourface.co to tell us anything. If we remove it, your listing's page says why.
Proof of purchase and getting in
Why does my listing need a proof of purchase?
Until someone vouches for you or you've earned it, each listing waits as a draft until we check a picture of your order confirmation from the ticket seller. If the order doesn't show your name, we ask for up to two screenshots of the tickets in your ticket seller's app: your tickets, and the screen that shows whose they are if that's a different one. In Ticketmaster that's Ticket Information, with Order Details open. The two screenshots need to show the same order number (tickets transferred to you carry a new one, and that's fine), or a person decides. It's how we know you have the tickets.
Who sees my picture?
An AI reads it and checks it against your listing. When everything matches, your listing goes live. When anything doesn't match, a person decides. If a person refuses your proof, you get one more try. An order that is clearly for other tickets than your listing is refused by the AI itself, and that costs you no try: read why on your listing and send the right picture. We delete the picture 30 days after the show.
When do I stop sending a proof?
Either of these:
- A founder, or a seller who has earned it (below), vouches for you while they have room.
- You earn it: 2 clean completed trades as a seller, each with a different buyer with no vouch between you when the trade began, with an average rating of 4.5 or higher, no open report against you, and your vouching not paused. A buyer counts when they paid through us, or when a founder or a seller who has earned it had already let them start listing when the trade began.
Sending the prices
Why send a screenshot of the prices?
When tickets for a show go on sale, take a screenshot of the ticket seller's page with the prices on it: the list of ticket types, a seat you were offered, the general admission price. Send it from the show's page with "Send a screenshot of the prices". We read the prices off it, and once two people's screenshots agree, the show's page says what face value is for those tickets. Then everyone here can list at face value, even someone whose transferred tickets show $0.
Only we see your screenshot. We never show your name with the prices, and a single screenshot never puts a price on the page.
What do I get for it?
Every screenshot we use counts on your profile ("12 price screenshots used"). At 5 you're "Sends prices", at 25 "Helps others find face value", and at 100 "Helps others list at face value". The first 5 people whose screenshots we use for a show also get one trade where we take no cut from them, once buying or selling through us is open here.
Vouching
What does a vouch mean?
"I know them and would trade with them." It's how friends bring friends in.
Who can vouch someone in?
Anyone can vouch for someone they know. A vouch lets a new seller list without a proof only when it comes from a founder or from a seller who has earned listing on their own: 2 clean trades as a seller, each with a different buyer who counts and with no vouch between them when the trade began, averaging 4.5 stars or more. Buying tickets, however well it went, doesn't count.
What does another member see of me?
Tap any member's name on a listing, a trade or People to see their profile: first name, their record, who you know who vouches for them, what they can do here ("New here", "Can list tickets" or "Can help new sellers"), what buyers and sellers said of them after 4 and 5 star trades, who vouches for them, and whom they helped start listing. Signed out, a visitor sees the record and the counts with no names. Yours is under "Your profile" on the People tab, with what to do next.
My listing is waiting. How do I ask someone to vouch for me?
On your listing's page, under "Ask someone you know to vouch for you", make a vouch link and text it to one person who knows you. When they open it and vouch for you, buyers see that they do. If they can help new sellers start listing, your listing goes live too; otherwise it still waits for a proof of purchase, or for a vouch from someone who can. A link works once and for 30 days; you can make one per friend, up to 5 at a time.
Whose vouches count on a profile?
A vouch counts once the person who gave it has completed a trade here, or is a founder. A vouch from an account with no history yet shows nobody anything. If a member who vouched for you is later banned, their vouch still counts for you; they are shown as "a member", not by name.
Is there a limit on how many people I can vouch for?
No limit on vouches. A seller who has earned it can help 2 new sellers at a time who haven't completed a trade yet. When one of them completes a trade as a seller, with a buyer who counts and who has no vouch either way with either of you, there's room for another. Founders have no limit. The People tab says how much room you have, and offers "Help [Name] start listing" under anyone you vouch for who can't list yet when you have room.
Can I stop helping someone list?
Yes, while they haven't made a sale that counts: "Stop helping [Name] list" on the People tab. Their next listings need a proof of purchase again, and we tell them so without saying why. Anything they already have live stays live, and your room opens once it ends. Your vouch stays.
What happens if someone I vouched for turns out to be a bad actor?
If they're banned, your vouch is removed and you get a strike, and we tell you who was banned and what kind of rule they broke (not delivering tickets, selling tickets that weren't theirs, abuse, or breaking our rules), never the details. For the next 12 months you can help only 1 new seller at a time; it goes back to 2 sooner once 2 people you helped have each completed 2 trades that count since the strike. A second strike within 12 months pauses your vouching for 90 days and hides your name from other members. It also means everyone you helped start listing who hasn't earned listing on their own goes back to sending a proof with each listing, unless someone else vouches for them; we tell them, without saying why. Their listings already live stay live. The same happens to everyone a banned member helped start listing.
Your account
Who sees my name, number and email?
Other members see your first name only. Once a buyer accepts and the seller confirms a trade settled between yourselves, the two of you see each other's phone number. On a trade paid through us, the seller sees the buyer's first name and ticketing email. Nobody else sees your last name, email or card.
Why do you need my real name?
To check that a proof of purchase is yours, and to look into reports.
Where are the terms I agreed to?
The terms of use and the privacy policy are always one tap from My trades, beside Sign out, and at the foot of every page.
How do I stop emails?
Use the link at the bottom of any of them. Today we text you only your sign-in codes.
How do I delete my account?
Email support@sellyourface.co and we'll delete it.
Getting started
What are requests, listings and offers?
A request says the show, the kind of ticket, how many (1 to 4) and the most you'll pay. A listing says what tickets you have and your price. When a listing fits a request, the buyer gets an offer with a deadline to accept. Posting a request doesn't hold any tickets for you. No new offers are made within 2 hours of doors opening.
How do I share my listing?
On your listing, tap Share your listing. It writes a post with a link you can put on Instagram, in a group chat or anywhere. Requests have Share your request.
How do I invite a friend?
On the People tab, make an invite link. Each link is for one person and works for 30 days.
