1. Who we are and what this is

Sell Your Face is a website where music fans buy and sell concert tickets at face value. It is run by Sell Your Face, LLC, a Delaware limited liability company ("we", "us").

By signing in or using the site you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you do not agree, do not use the site.

Face value means a ticket's original price from the first sale, plus the fees and tax on that sale. It is never what someone paid on a resale site.

The site offers two ways to trade:

  • Settle between yourselves. We introduce a buyer and a seller. They pay and transfer the tickets between themselves. We never touch the money and take no cut.
  • Pay through us. The buyer's card is held when a listing fits, the seller transfers the tickets, and the money is taken and paid to the seller once the buyer has them. We take a cut.

2. Who can use the site

  • You must be at least 18 years old.
  • You must live in the United States and sign in with a US mobile number you control.
  • One account per person. Your account is tied to your phone number.
  • You may not use the site if we have closed your account.

3. Your account

  • You sign in with a code we text to your phone. Keep your phone secure. You are responsible for what happens on your account.
  • You give us your real first and last name. Other members see your first name only. We see your full name, and use it to check proof of purchase and to look into reports.
  • You may give us an email address so we can send you messages about your requests, listings and trades. You can stop those emails from the link in any of them.
  • Tell us right away if you think someone else is using your account.

4. Requests, listings and offers

  • A request says which show and kind of ticket you want, how many (1 to 4), and the most you will pay per ticket.
  • A listing says which tickets you have and your price per ticket. Your price must be at or under face value.
  • Where we know the show's price range, the listing form will not take a price above 110% of the top of that range. That ceiling stands in for fees we cannot see. A price under the ceiling can still be above face value, and is still against these terms.
  • You may list tickets you bought on a resale site, at face value or less. Face value is the original price, never what you paid there, so you may get back less than you paid. We check your price against face value we know from other orders or the show's price range, never against the resale price.
  • We do not accept VIP or travel packages, or tickets that cannot be transferred.
  • Some shows sell only through the ticket seller's own capped resale channel, and tickets for them cannot be transferred outside it.
  • We send a listing to the buyers whose requests fit it, oldest first. An offer has a deadline, shown as a clock time. Posting a request does not reserve a ticket.
  • No new offers are made within 2 hours of doors open. Live listings end then.
  • We may pause or remove a request or listing that breaks these terms or looks wrong.

5. Newcomers, proof of purchase and vouching

  • A new member's listing waits as a draft until one of these happens: a founder, or a seller who has earned listing on their own (below) and has room, vouches for them; or we check their proof of purchase for that listing.
  • Earning it yourself. Once you have completed 2 trades as a seller, each with a different buyer who does not vouch for you and whom you do not vouch for when the trade begins, with an average rating of 4.5 stars or more, your listings go live without a proof of purchase, even if nobody vouches for you. A buyer counts only when they paid through us, or when a founder or a seller who has earned listing had already let them start listing when the trade began; a buyer who is later banned stops counting. We count only ratings you can already see, and a trade we refunded or that was reported against you does not count. You lose this while a report against you is open, while your vouching is paused, or if your rating falls below 4.5, and for good if you are banned.
  • Proof of purchase is a picture of the order confirmation from the original ticket seller, or, where there is no order in your name, of the tickets in your ticket seller's app. It must show the show and the tickets, and must be your own. Sending an edited or someone else's picture is a breach of these terms and gets your account closed.
  • An AI service reads your picture. It reads the show, date, ticket type, quantity, price, order total, the name on the order and the order number, and compares them with your listing. When everything matches, your listing can go live without a person looking. When anything does not match, or the picture cannot be read, a person decides. A person can reject a picture the AI passed.
  • If your proof is rejected, you get 1 more try.
  • We keep a coded copy (a hash) of the order number so the same order cannot prove two listings. We delete the picture 30 days after the show. The privacy policy says what else we keep.
  • Vouching means "I know them and would trade with them". If someone you vouched for is banned, your vouch is removed and you get a strike, and we tell you who was banned and what kind of rule they broke, in a word, never the details. 2 strikes in 12 months stop you from vouching, and hide your name from other members, for 90 days.
  • Helping new sellers start listing. Only founders and sellers who have earned listing on their own can help a new seller list without a proof. A seller can help 2 at a time who have not yet completed a trade as a seller; when one does, with a buyer who counts and who has no vouch with either of you when the trade begins, there is room for another. While a strike is less than 12 months old, the number is 1, until 2 members you helped have each completed 2 trades that count since the strike. Founders have no limit. You may stop helping a member you helped start listing while they have not yet completed a trade that counts; their next listings then need a proof of purchase, and listings already live stay live.
  • You answer for the people you help start listing. When a second strike stops your vouching, every member you helped start listing who has not yet earned listing on their own (above) goes back to needing a proof of purchase for their next listings, until someone else vouches for them or they earn it. Their listings already live stay live. Members who have earned it keep listing. The same applies to everyone a banned member helped start listing.

6. Settling between yourselves

This section applies to every trade that does not pay through us.

  • When a buyer accepts an offer and the seller confirms, we show each of them the other's first name and verified phone number. From then on, they arrange payment and the transfer between themselves.
  • We are not a party to that trade. We do not hold, check or move the money or the tickets. We do not guarantee that the tickets are real, that they arrive, or that they are at face value. A listing says "listed at face value", never "guaranteed".
  • Pay only by a method you trust, and only for tickets transferred through the ticket seller's own app.
  • A seller who asks for more than face value, after the introduction or at any time, breaks these terms. Tell us with "Report a problem" on the trade. A confirmed report closes the seller's account.
  • A buyer can back out while waiting on the seller. A second back-out within 30 days stops that buyer accepting offers for 48 hours.
  • When the tickets and money have changed hands, both sides mark the trade complete and rate each other. Ratings are shown to the other side once both have rated, or after 7 days.
  • No refunds through us. We take no money on this path, so we have none to give back. Disputes between the two of you are yours to settle.

7. Paying through us

This section applies to trades that pay through us.

7.1 Your card and the hold

  • To make a request that pays through us, you save a card. Before you save it, we show you the most your card can be held for: the most per ticket times the number of tickets, plus our cut, plus the card cost, as one figure.
  • When a listing fits your request, we place a hold on your card at once, for the listing's price times the number of tickets, plus our cut and the card cost. You do not tap anything. By saving your card you agree to that hold.
  • A hold is held, not taken. Your bank may show it as pending.
  • If your card says no, we try once more 10 minutes later. If it says no again, your request is paused until you update your card.
  • If your bank asks you to confirm the payment, we treat it as a card that said no.
  • You can remove your request any time before a hold. Once a hold is placed you cannot back out.
  • You cannot be matched with yourself: a request and a listing on the same card or the same account never match.

7.2 The transfer

  • Once a hold is placed, the seller sees your first name and the email on your Ticketmaster or AXS account, and a deadline to transfer: 24 hours when doors open more than 48 hours away, 4 hours when 12 to 48 hours away, 1 hour when less than 12 hours away, and never later than 1 hour before doors open.
  • The seller transfers the tickets through the ticket seller's own app and uploads a picture of the screen showing the transfer was accepted.
  • If the seller misses the deadline, the hold is released and your request goes back to looking in its original place. The seller cannot list on this path again until we accept a reason.

7.3 When the money is taken

  • Tap I got them and the hold is taken.
  • If you say nothing within 6 hours of the seller's upload, or by 1 hour before doors open if that is sooner, the trade confirms itself and the hold is taken.
  • Tap I didn't get them before then, and the hold stays until we decide. We ask both of you for the emails from the ticket seller and look at the seller's upload. We then either take the hold and pay the seller, or release it. Our decision is final within the site. It does not limit any right you have with your bank or card issuer, or under law.

7.4 Refunds and releases

  • A release lets go of a hold that was never taken. A refund gives back money that was taken.
  • If the show is cancelled, every trade not yet paid out is released or refunded in full. If the show is postponed, trades not yet paid out are released; trades already paid out stand.
  • If the ticket seller voids the tickets before the seller is paid, you are refunded and the seller is not paid. If it happens after, you are refunded and the seller's account is closed.
  • If we close either side's account during a trade, the trade stops and the hold is released.
  • Refunds go back to the card that was charged.

7.5 Sellers: getting paid

  • The first time one of your paid trades confirms, we ask you to set up a payout account with Stripe, our payment provider. Stripe checks your identity. You agree to Stripe's Connected Account Agreement.
  • We pay you the price times the number of tickets, less our cut per ticket from the seller. The buyer pays our cut per ticket from the buyer and the card cost on top of the price; neither comes out of yours. Both cuts are shown on the listing form before you choose to be paid through us.
  • Your first 2 paid trades pay out 24 hours after the show starts. After 2 clean trades, you are paid when the trade confirms.
  • While you have fewer than 2 clean trades, no more of your listings that pay through us go live once $600 is waiting to be paid to you.
  • If a buyer is refunded after you were paid because your tickets were not good, we may recover the money from you, and we close your account.
  • You are responsible for any tax on what you sell.

7.6 Our cut and the card cost

  • Our cut is a fixed amount per ticket from the buyer and a fixed amount per ticket from the seller. The buyer's is shown beside the price before you save a card or tap Buy, and on your receipt; the seller's is shown on the listing form before you choose to be paid through us. Both amounts on a trade are fixed when the hold is placed; a later change never moves them.
  • Card cost is what the card network charges to take the payment, passed on at cost and shown as its own line before you pay.
  • If losses on this path pass a limit we set, we pause new paid requests and listings and say so on the site. Trades already held run their course.

8. Rules for everyone

You agree not to:

  • list tickets above face value (including tickets bought on a resale site, whatever you paid there), or tickets you do not have;
  • ask a buyer for more than the listed price, before or after an introduction;
  • use a buyer's or seller's phone number or email for anything but the trade;
  • harass, threaten or deceive another member;
  • send a fake or edited proof of purchase or transfer picture;
  • open more than one account, or use someone else's;
  • copy the site's data in bulk, scrape it, or interfere with how it runs;
  • use the site to break the law or a ticket seller's terms.

9. Closing accounts

  • We may close any account that breaks these terms, or that we reasonably believe puts other members at risk. A closed account cannot request, list, vouch or trade.
  • Closing an account stops its open trades. Phone numbers not yet shown are never shown. Vouches others gave the account are removed, and each of those members gets a strike.
  • On the paid path, a hold on a stopped trade is released.
  • You can ask us to close your account at any time by contacting us.

10. Our content and yours

  • The site, its design, words and code are ours. Show listings come from public sources and ticket sellers' data services.
  • You keep what you post (notes, pictures). You give us permission to store it, show it to the members these terms describe, and use it to run the site.
  • Do not post anything you have no right to post.

11. No warranty

The site is provided as it is. We do not promise it will always be available or free of errors, that show details are correct, or that any member will act in good faith. Show times and prices come from outside sources and can be wrong.

12. Limit on our liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for anything one member does to another. On a trade you settle between yourselves, our liability is zero. On a trade that pays through us, our total liability to you is the amount we took on that trade.

13. Disputes with us

You first contact us and give us 30 days to fix it. If we cannot, the dispute goes to binding individual arbitration, with a carve-out for small-claims court. The laws of the State of Delaware govern these terms.

14. Changes

We may change these terms. We will post the new terms with a new date, and tell members by email when a change affects money they have held or owed. Using the site after a change means you accept it.
